HDR or High-Dynamic Range Imaging is a part of post-editing process wherein you attempt to pull out the highlights and/or decrease the shadows in order to put more vividness or clarity on details.
HDR is helpful in improving over-exposed/underexposed photos, too bright or too dark details, shadows, highlights or shiny subjects.
Many modern cameras (DSLR’s and compact cams) are equipped with HDR in-camera technology to bring out fine details of subjects shot against challenging lighting situations (eg. shooting against the light or within a shade).
